Missions Monday: Im-pacto Misionero

Hey all,

During Passion week the church had a couple Bible studies, and as part of that they made a new missions board that they have been putting up every Sunday since.

We got a chance to answer some questions that they then posted as part of this board, along with all the other missions activities and missionaries that they are involved in/know. It's awesome to be a part of a church so focused on missions, a reminder that no matter where in the world you are you're a part of the Great Commission as a follower of Jesus!

This church is very rightly named "Friends of the Mission" and that is truly a role they have played here in Tome, and in other parts of South America and the world!

Here are some pictures from the Bible study night. Jordan was filming so unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of him, but I was in charge of the little ones that night so that their parents could be a part of the Bible study without distraction.

We traveled from the table to the floor and by the end of the night had taken out every single toy in the Children's Ministry, but we had a great time and the kids were super - sitting still for a two hour Bible study is not easy for 3-5 year-olds!

Have a great Monday,

Jordan and Missy

Sourdough Bread

Just made my second batch of sourdough bread from the sourdough starter I started about eight months ago. Still figuring everything out with cooking time, but having some sourdough bread is such a nice change -- have we mentioned that there is basically no variety in bread here?? Sometimes when we go into the city we are able to find something a bit different, fluffier or heavier. But sourdough? No. way.

I use this website for the process, and it's worked pretty well. The first time around I could not for the life of me get the bread out of the clay pot I used, but this time around I coated that thing with oil (possibly in excess!) and added a heap of oats at the bottom to allow for easy removal and voila! It worked!

Jordan loves this bread, I'm not completely into yet - and I think more than anything it has to do with the starter needing more time to develop it's flavor.

Warm with some butter

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Anyone out there have a good tried and true sourdough bread recipe I should check out??

Blessings to you this Sunday!
Missy

Kids Easter Excitement

Hey all,

I know I just posted a picture of these little flowers we made at Sunday school over the Easter weekend, but we all had a blast making them - and they are so easy! Usually made with pipe cleaners (though I couldn't find any down here) we made do with some wiry home decoration cut into pieces. Just add on a cut out hand print and you are good to go!

Jordan and I bought Bibles for all the little ones as well, we had prayed over it a lot, and when it came down to it - basically none of my Sunday school regulars have their own Bible! We found some great ones that also have pictures for the really little ones....after I handed them out they spent the rest of the class asking me to read different parts of "the big book." Seriously awesome to see them interested in Holy Scripture!

Love and blessings to all,
Missy and Jordan

Missions Monday: Bethel Missions

Hey all,
We are a day late, but for this Missions Monday we got to listen to a great sermon from Bethel Church in Redding, California. It shares some testimonies from amazing men and women serving in the mission field these days, and it was an awesome encouragement and reminder to us that there are SO many people praying for missions, giving to missions, and serving on missions all over the world. Our God is SO BIG.

If you want to listen to it for yourself just go to your Itunes store and search Bethel Church, the name of the sermon is Bethel Missions. Thanks Dad Reid for the sermon suggestion!

Oh yes, and we also spent last night hauling wood up to our house for the winter -- thankfully our neighbor made a cart with an electronic pulley, so the 90 stairs weren't the hardest part of getting the 500 logs up here!

We are having 1000 more delivered on Saturday, and we will definitely be recruiting even more help this time around!

Have a wonderful Tuesday,
Jordan and Missy
