Samaritan's Purse

You may have heard of Samaritan's Purse before, but if not, it's a Canadian program that sends gift boxes all over the world. Anyone can fill a shoe box with toys and candy, specifying an age group and gender, and then they turn them in wherever they are being collected. The boxes are then shipped all over the place, and come with a small booklet that shares the gospel. It's a really great program that Luciano's church has used for many years - and this year they gave him over 2,000 boxes to give to the kids who are still living without permanent housing after the earthquake! The only thing we had to do to get these boxes was to find a way to bring them to Tome from where they were - about 2.5 hours south.

So we readied the van for a heavy load!

We also rented another truck to fill with boxes

The van ended up holding 20 big boxes filled with shoe boxes, it was a lot to carry, but the car did just fine!

We also filled the truck to the brim (and more!)

The catch was that we also had to the unload all the boxes...

Currently they are residing at Luciano's until we can hand them out.

While Jordan did all the hard work, Missy just took the pictures.

We are very excited to be able to give all these boxes away come Christmas!

  1. I have filled so many of those boxes over the years it is cool to see the other end of where they go.
I hope you post when you hand them out to the children.
